Memorial Day Redux

While my own garden is still not ready for the season, and I still have more then several planters to finish building before it is, one client was able to have everything smart for a holiday dinner this past Monday.

I love working with these glass urns. Built what is essentially an impromptu frog out of thistle branches, to hold up horsetail ferns, poppy pods and billy buttons; mimicking a magical river planting.

Installation views, and the last works finished before the formal opening of Thommy Conroy:Fabled, last night. I am very grateful to everyone for all of their support and assistance, especially Elizabeth, Robin, Mike, Seth, Graham, Steve, Terry, Toni, and of course, Jacob. And would like to thank everyone who came and made the opening such a lovely evening (despite my exhaustion). Enjoy:

And the final three paintings, not shown in earlier posts:
The Discussion

The Landing

The Oracle

Finally finished the big one! I know it’s queer, but I wanna call it Cabin in the Woods..

Quiet Opening tonight at Mendelson for Fabled. Installed four complete paintings and hung my gnome print in a wallpaper like fashion. Stay tuned, more to come!

Mother’s Day Weekend is in one week, these sweet carnation arrangements are installed at Salt of the Earth in their honor.

Join Conroy as he continues his quest imaging the imagined. The destruction of the natural world, the quest to set order right, and the storied history of journeys gone are subject in his new show, Thommy Conroy: Fabled. The show will be composed of talismans of the fabulous, frozen moments in lost stories, and character studies of heroes long forgotten; all used to question the nature of fable in modern society, and the storytelling that fuels the artistic process.

Show nowhere near complete, but gallery is open tonight with six pieces installed: four paintings shown, hand painted poster, and the beginning of a wall paper installation…
